Her career in journalism began with Myrtle Beach South Carolina as an anchor and news reporter with WPDE-TV. In later years, she was employed by WCBD as anchor for the morning show and as a crime reporter. The journalist's report on the lack of police response in response to DUI instances in Charleston resulted in an investigation being conducted by the State Law Enforcement Division, which led to a change in policy from state officials regarding DUI cases. The Associated Press awarded Ms. O'Dell an award for the Best Report of the year award for the entire South Carolina media. Her work in Charleston has led to her serving as co-anchor and investigative reporter and anchor for NBC's Miami WTVJ-TV. Prior to becoming a part of Access Hollywood she was a co-anchor on weekdays as well as the NBC weekend co-anchor.
